When the first rays appear over the rolling hills, they paint the sky with wonder for what the emerging day will bring. It’s this magical moment of new beginnings that artist Kimberly Engwicht from K-Rae Designs has captured for DAYBREAK, part of KAMARA’s stunning fifth-anniversary collection.
The collaboration brings two Queensland-based First Nations businesses together to showcase the landscape of Australia’s heart in Sun Smart style.
The result beams brightly – a piece to align with a wearer who exudes warmth, optimism and harmony.

Proud South Sea Islander and Bundjalung woman, Kimberly Engwicht, is the Creative Director and owner of K-Rae Designs - the digital illustration and stationery company on Yuggera country in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Kimberly started out experimenting with ink and brush pens on paper, but after working on an iPad there really wasn’t any looking back for her. The majority of her work is big and bold - with strong uses of block colours.
Mother of two, Wife, and Creative Genius (just to name a few), Kimberly has built a loyal following of true devotees. So it is no surprise that K-Rae Designs has attracted brands by the likes of Mini, Brisbane City Council, and ABC Kids, all working with her illustrative brilliance.
As a digital illustrator, her love for bold illustrations and bright colours is always evident in her work. Kimberly aims to connect to audiences of all ages through icons and illustrations inspired by popular culture. She has her own range of stationery and apparel, which includes greeting cards, art prints, journals, t-shirts and most recently a book "Nature All Around Us". Expect more big things from this remarkable talent.
The inspiration behind the DAYBREAK print:
‘The image I've created in collaboration with KAMARA is of a sun setting over pink hills,’ explains Kimberly.
‘These colours are always prevalent in my work as they just look so delicious all together.
‘The landscape pieces I've been creating are a nod to my time spent growing up in the NT, heading out bush while camping and seeing the sun set over rock formations is one of my favourite memories.’ says Kimberly.

Partnerships are important to KAMARA. Working alongside other First Nations women gives Creative Director Naomi endless strength and motivation.
‘Working with Kimberly has been not only inspiring but an absolute honour. I’ve been a huge fan of K-Rae Designs for some time, and collaborating on this project with K-Rae created something very special,” Collings said.
